Road to Eastmain

Postby helleborine » Thu Jun 04, 2009 8:09 pm

How bad is the driving from the JBR to Eastmain and how long does that take?

I've been asked to go for a few days to teach art. Does anyone know what sort of expenses are involved in going to such a remote community and bringing in loads of specialized supplies? I'm not sure what I am expected to ask for!

We only drove the first km of it or so -- if that -- and I'm no fan of unpaved roads, but that road didn't look that bad. I believe the speed limit was 70 km/h, and judging from the road that's about the speed I would suggest, so you could make it in just over 1 1/2 hours from the turnoff on the JBR.

There's a picture of the beginning of it in Walter's virtual tour...
