Looking for Lat Long coordinates for the JBR and TTR.

Postby Ken » Wed Aug 22, 2007 3:28 pm

Hi All.
My first post on this site.
My name is Ken, and my son-in-law and I will be travelling by pickup to the far end of the Trans-Taiga Rd this November 07.
We travel alot for business, and always use a GPS to locate our work locations quickly and accurately.
I have looked extensively for Lat /Long coordinates of various places / stops / etc and have been unsuccessful so far.
Does anyone have a list of, or a location where I can find, Lats / Longs for km signs, campsites, intersections, fuel, etc along the Road?
We'll certainly find our way with no problem, but it would be nice to have the coordinates just the same.
Thanks in advance,
Ken.
Thanks,
Ken from Michigan.
Ken

Hi Ken,
my wife and I returned yesterday from 3 weeks in the james bay area. here's a few co-ordinates:
Robert bourassa reservoir at km 64:
N53*31.211'
W076*38.865

Where we camped in Caniapiscau:
N54*50.043
W069*53.547
elevation 1704'

Out past the float plane base where the road started to peter out into the bush. This seemed to be an old settlement site but was our actual farthest north:
N54*51.982'
W069*51.035
elevation 1784'

What we believed to be the actual end of the Trans-Taiga. The road was gated beyond here and led to the control structure.
N54*50.291
W069*49.903
elevation 1781ft

Pontois River campsite, km203
N53*32.317
W074*49.294
elevation 865'

Radisson, QC campground:
N53*47.467
W077*37.455
elevation 592'

Longue Point, our furthest west:
N53*58.438
W079*04.744
elevation 4 ft

I will post some more with some photos as I organize them.
